therapy approachThe most important ingredient of any therapy is the relationship between you, as an individual, couple or family and the therapist. This is accomplished be creating a sense of trust, caring, honesty and hope. As difficult as it may seem when you are first considering therapy, it is my deep belief that through therapy you most certainly can make a positive change in your life that will allow you to feel more fulfilled. My goal is that at the end of your therapy you have the ability to maintain these changes and continue your personal growth on your own.

My approach to therapy is integrative, drawing from many theoretical models but functioning mainly from a psychodynamic base, where change is rooted in understanding the causes of behaviours, relationships and issues, and incorporating change strategies from a cognitive behavioural standpoint (CBT). I believe that therapy is a collaborative endeavour, and that you have the answers. My role is to help you uncover them, work towards them, and work through the difficulties that are in your way.

My training consists of Counselling Psychology, Organizational Psychology, Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and Coaching. Early in my career I was involved in large corporate organizations in various directive functions and discovered through it all that the most rewarding part of my work was to help and mentor others. Through my work as a coach, I discovered that people cannot be separated into parts — their work part and their personal part, and as a result I decided to become a psychotherapist. Being a psychotherapist has allowed me to fulfill my lifelong endeavour to help others gain balance in their lives, get closer to their true selves and get past hurdles in their life that are holding them back. I am a firm believer that change is possible at any time during someone’s life. In fact my own life is all about learning, changing and evolving.
