Psychotherapy Montreal, Beaconsfield, West Island, and Westmount, Quebec

couple and family therapy, marriage counsellingOften couples will find themselves going through a difficult time at a certain point in their relationship. These difficulties may arise from a new life circumstance or may have existed for a long time and are now becoming difficult to bear. I can help you overcome some of these obstacles to a fulfilling relationship by helping you explore the root causes of the issues so that your life as a couple can be enhanced. My approach to couples counselling involves looking at the relationship itself as opposed to each party individually. Unlike the role of a judge or a mediator who must choose sides, my role as a therapist is to understand the dynamic between the partners and how some of the repeated patterns in the relationship are causing negative feelings in the relationship. I am here to collaborate with both partners in order to bring issues to the surface and to help the couple work through them.

Family Therapy:

Family members often have a difficult time dealing with each other, particularly when a significant event occurs in their lives, be it a divorce, a new spouse, an illness in the family or one of many other recent or longstanding issues. It is sometimes difficult for everyone to have a voice and be heard in a family setting. This can often lead to anxiety, problems in school or at work and other issues which the family members no longer feel they can handle alone. In my work with families I provide an opportunity for everyone to voice their thoughts and feelings and seek to understand the dynamic involved between the family members to understand what has brought about the issues at hand. My role is to listen attentively, respectfully and compassionately to what is being said, and often to what is left unsaid, by family members in order to understand the repetition of patterns of behaviour which may be hindering the family from enjoying their life together.

  • Behaviour problems
